East Belfast: Attempted murder arrest after serious assault

The incident happened in Montrose Street in east Belfast on Thursday

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was seriously assaulted in east Belfast.

Police said they were called to a property in Montrose Street at about 23:20 GMT on Thursday.

Officers found a woman with serious injuries to her head and neck and arrested a 42-year-old man at the scene, who remains in police custody.

Det Sgt McAllister has appealed for anyone with information about the incident to contact detectives.
