South Belfast: Police seize drugs worth more than £500,000

Police have seized drugs with an estimated street value in excess of £500,000.

The drugs were seized after police stopped and searched two cars on Friday at 15:00 GMT in south Belfast.

Two men, one in his 20s, the other in his 40s, were arrested on suspicion of possession of Class B and possession of Class B with intent to supply.

Follow up searches were conducted by detectives at a house in the Lisburn Road.

Searches were also made by An Garda Síochána (Irish police) in the Republic of Ireland, where further drugs, cash and drug-related paraphernalia were found.

A Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) detective inspector said the force was "committed to tacking the activities of individuals linked to organised criminal gangs within our community, and those who commit cross border criminality".

They asked anyone with information about any criminality linked to drugs to get in touch with them.
