Ballymoney: Six police injured after intervening in bar brawl

Two people have been charged after six police officers were injured when they intervened in a bar fight in Ballymoney on Tuesday night.
They were called to reports of a man and a woman fighting in a bar, who continued fighting outside after being asked to leave by staff.
When officers tried to engage with them, the woman became abusive and disorderly and was arrested.
The man also became abusive and was also arrested.
While he was being arrested he assaulted four more officers.
Police said both the man and woman appeared to be intoxicated.
During the incident, officers were bitten and had nails dug into their arms.
One officer was kicked to the head and body several times and was left with bruising and marks on his head and behind his ear.
He also suffered a cut to his thumb and his watch was broken.
'Think how you would feel'
A police spokesperson said all the officers were continuously spat at during the incident.
"Imagine showing up for work, day after day to keep your community safe, yet being subjected to this type of abuse - put yourselves in the boots of our officers and think how you would feel," he said.
The officers who sustained injuries did not require hospital treatment and all officers were fit to remain on duty,
A man, aged 31, and a woman, aged 25, have been charged with offences including assault on police, disorderly behaviour, criminal damage, resisting police, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in connection with the incident.
The man is expected to appear before Coleraine Magistrates' Court on 7 March, while the woman is expected to appear before the same court on 25 March.
