The Environment minister has decided against introducing a new planning policy aimed at accelerating planning applications that bring major economic benefits.
Alex Attwood signalled the end of draft planning policy 24, following a public consultation.
Mr Attwood said a majority were opposed to the procedure.
He said current planning policy already takes economic factors into consideration.
Mr Attwood pledged his department would work towards achieving quick planning decisions favourable to the environment as well as economic growth.
