A former leader of the Liberal Democrats in the London Assembly explained why he was going up against Lembit Opik for the party's nomination to stand in the capital's mayoral race.

Mike Tuffrey criticised the actions of records of current mayor Boris Johnson and predecessor Ken Livingstone, who are both standing again in the 2012 race.
