Commons gold! Tory Mark Pritchard is recounting the Government's attempts to get him to drop his Backbench Business Committee motion today banning the use of wild animals in circuses - warnings from the whips of increasing menace, culminating in a phone call from Downing Street warning him of the Prime Minister's personal displeasure.
His retort that he was a humble council house lad with a spine, and was prepared to defy the prime minister of his country brought cheers from round the House.
...but I do hope he won't be walking down any dark alleys any time soon. Watch live! , external
