Scrap metal thefts: Private member's bill to control trade
MPs have called for a change in the law governing scrap metal sales to stop "metal laundering" with a private member's bill to go before Parliament later this week.
Police forces across the West Midlands revealed £35m of metal has been stolen over the past four years, with 30,000 incidents, after a Freedom of Information request by the BBC Sunday Politics.
Victims told the programme it was time for the law to get tough. Susana Mendonca reports.
