Donations over £7,500 must be reported

The Conservatives received £3.2m in party donations in the last three months of 2011, according to figures from the Electoral Commission.

Labour received £2.3m in donations, while the Lib Dems received £1.07m.

UKIP got the most donations of the smaller parties, £151,000, more than twice that of the Scottish National Party on £50,964.

Donations over £7,500 must be reported by central parties - the threshold is £1,500 for constituency associations.

The figures , externalshow that Plaid Cymru reported no donations at all in the last quarter of 2011, while the Green Party reported £26,530 and the Scottish Greens got £8,196. The British National Party received £10,000.

Labour's biggest single donation was £649,092 from the GMB union. The Conservatives were given £600,000 by the National Conservative Draws Society while the Lib Dems got a £329,352 boost from the Methuen Liberal Trust Fund.

Overall in 2011, the Conservatives raised £14.1m in donations, Labour just under £12m, the Lib Dems £4.1m and the SNP £2.8m.
