Mannequin trial: Renee Slater on Helena Torry exchange
A woman cleared of electoral fraud explained how she was involved in a prisoner exchange for a mannequin that she nominated as a candidate for an Aberdeen City Council election.
Renee Slater, who put the name Helena Torry forward to stand for the authority, won the case brought by a council returning officer under the Representation of the People Act 1983.
She told Andrew Neil that that she had been in a police cell and was initially exchanged for the dummy.
Ms Slater said 'Helena Torry' could be collected in a few weeks from custody, but she believed it would be in need of a change of clothes.
