Last year was uncomfortable for the Co-operative movement with publicity around the former Co-op bank chairman Paul Flowers.
But the Co-operative Party, which draws much of its funding from the Co-op Group, had claimed to be in good health - and it has the support of 31 Labour MPs.
As it launched its manifesto on Friday, Giles Dilnot looked at other areas where the Co-op is involved in including schools and housing estates.
