Nigel Farage: 2016 is year of political revolution

Reacting to Donald Trump's victory, interim UKIP leader Nigel Farage said: "The political revolution of 2016 is that in two massive campaigns the underdogs beat the establishment. We did it in Brexit and Trump did it last night in the USA."

Mr Farage said President Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had been dismissive of the UK, while Mr Trump understood and valued the special relationship.

He added that UK-US relations would be "better under Trump than they could ever be under Clinton".
