Sande wins at Tartan clef awards

R&B singer Emeli Sande was named best breakthrough artist at the 13th annual Scottish Music Awards.
The Aberdeenshire-born singer, whose recent single with Professor Green reached number one, also performed at the awards, which were held in Glasgow.
The former medical student has featured in the UK charts this year with songs Heaven and Read All About It.
Other Tartan Clef award winners included Frightened Rabbit, who were best live band.
The Legend award went to The Rezillos and Big Country won the Pride of Scotland award.
A new recognition award was won by primary head teacher Karen Mathieson who has used music therapy sessions for pupils at Howford School in Crookston.
There was a global aspect to the awards with Jim Dunlop, of the family-named global music industry suppliers, flying in from California, to collect the musical instrument award.
