A9 Luncarty to Tay crossing dualling plans on display

The A9 will be dual carriageway from Perth to Inverness by 2025, the government has said

Plans for making the A9 a dual carriageway between Luncarty and the Tay Crossing in Perthshire are to go on display to the public next week.

The estimated cost for widening the 10-mile section, north of Perth, is £200m.

People will have opportunity to comment on the proposals at exhibitions in Perth, Dunkeld and Bankfoot.

The exhibitions also feature information on the work being undertaken to dual the A9 from Perth to Inverness by 2025.

Transport Minister Keith Brown said: "This Scottish government has been steadfast in its commitment to dualling the A9 between Perth and Inverness and these exhibitions represent the next stage of the preparatory work that started nearly four years ago.

"It is vital we carry out the detailed design work that ensures we get the best solution for all concerned - maximising the benefits and minimising the disruption."

The public exhibitions begin at Dewars Conference and Exhibition Centre in Perth on Tuesday 31 January.

On Wednesday 1 February, it will be at Birnam Arts and Conference Centre in Dunkeld and on Friday 3 February it will be on display at Bankfoot Church Centre in Bankfoot.

The venues will be staffed by representatives of Transport Scotland and their design consultants, who will be available to discuss the proposals.

Transport Scotland is the national transport agency responsible for trunk roads.
