The Isle of Raasay remembers its WWI interns

Residents of the Isle of Raasay have been celebrating the centenary of their main village.

Inverarish originally consisted of 64 terraced houses which were built to accommodate workers in the island's iron ore mine.

The village then became a prisoner of war camp for German soldiers sent to work there during World War I.

A memorial stone at the island's cemetery is a reminder that 14 of the interns never left Raasay.
