After a December dominated by wind and rain, the weather was kind to people out celebrating the New Year.
Part of the celebrations in Edinburgh included a torchlight procession.

Fireworks have become a fixture of the public celebrations, with cities including Edinburgh, Stirling and Inverness hosting displays.

The entertainment in Edinburgh was headlined by the Pet Shop Boys.
Also on the bill in Edinburgh was local performer Nina Nesbitt.
Thousands of people took to the streets of towns and cities to welcome 2014 with open arms.
Daylight brought the traditional Loony Dook celebration near South Queensferry in the shadow of the Forth Bridge.
More than 1,000 enthusiasts took to the water to mark the New Year and raise money for charity.
