The Queen's Baton's Commonwealth journey

The Queen's Baton Relay has reached the end of a global adventure which has seen it travel to 70 nations and territories in 288 days.

The baton contains a sealed, secret message written by Queen Elizabeth II and on Wednesday 23 July it will be read out to officially open the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

After visiting Commonwealth countries in Asia, it travelled through Oceania, Africa, the Americas and the Caribbean before making its way to Europe.

The relay then travelled round the British Isles, culminating in a 40-day tour of the host nation, Scotland.
