Sherlock's 'Nessie' found by Loch Ness sonar

A survey of Loch Ness has located a large monster, built in 1969, for The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes starring Sir Robert Stephens and Sir Christopher Lee.

High tech sonar imaging equipment is being used in the survey footage which shows a sweep of the loch and focus on the lost 'monster'.

The film prop sank to the bottom of the loch almost 50 years ago.

Loch Ness has been difficult to survey in the past due to its depth and steeply sloping side 'walls' consisting of hard clay and rocky outcrops.
