Alex Salmond aims for independence 'supermajority'

Former Scottish first minister Alex Salmond says his new party wants to build "a supermajority for independence".

Mr Salmond said he would be among the candidates who will stand for the Alba Party on regional lists in May's Scottish Parliament elections.

Other parties described Mr Salmond as "discredited" and questioned his suitability for public office.
