Scottish independence only possible if majority vote in favour - Sturgeon

Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has told BBC Breakfast a general election could become a de facto referendum if her bid for an official second referendum is blocked.

Sturgeon has proposed 19 October 2023 as the date for another referendum on Scottish independence.

The first minister has written to UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson to ask for formal consent for the vote to be held.
