Gender reform bill: Nicola Sturgeon says UK government ‘stoking culture war’
Scotland’s first minister Nicola Sturgeon has said the UK government is seeing an “opportunity to stoke a culture war” after it moved to block plans to make it easier for people in Scotland to change gender.
The UK government is to formally prevent the reforms - which were passed in the Scottish Parliament - from gaining royal assent.
Ms Sturgeon said the decision undermines the Scottish Parliament in Holyrood.
