Tributes paid after death of Alistair Darling

Tributes have been paid after the death of veteran Scottish politician Alistair Darling.

Lord Darling was a former Labour chancellor and leader of the Scottish independence No campaign Better Together.

The former Edinburgh MP died after a "short spell" in hospital, his family said.

He has been described as an advocate for Scotland and a dedicated public servant who guided Britain through the global financial crisis.
