Scots couples celebrate Christmas babies

Several couples have welcomed new arrivals to their families

Scottish parents are celebrating the birth of their babies on Christmas Day.

Maja and Jason Shearer's daughter Eliza arrived at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary just 18 minutes after midnight, weighing 7lb 8oz.

Livingston couple Adeeqa Parveen Ali and Faisal Imran had a double festive surprise with the birth of twins.

Baby boy Jami, 5lb 8oz, was delivered at 23:44 on Christmas Eve, while his sister Rumi, 4lb 2oz, arrived at 00:27 on Christmas Day at St John's Hospital.

The pair had been due to be delivered on 20 January.

Lauren Haddock and Jordan Hamill's son Finley was born at 00:33 at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, weighing 7lb 8oz.

A few minutes later, at 00:59, baby Lexi was born to Marissa McLean, 31, and Kevin Lothian, 33, from Edinburgh.

Born 7lb 8oz, Lexi arrived at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

At 01:24, Ashleigh Gillon and Dean Halup welcomed their baby boy at Forth Valley Hospital, Larbert, weighing 7lb 6oz.

The pair, from Clackmannanshire, were still deciding on a name.

Later at St John's, 35-year-old Claire Gray and her partner Kyle, 36, welcomed a baby girl.

The couple, from Bathgate, West Lothian, were also still deciding on a name for the little one, who was born just after 07:00 and weighed 8lb 8oz.
