Douglas Ross - 'I'm disappointed the windfall tax has been extended'

The leader of the Scottish Conservatives has said he will vote against the UK government's plan to extend the windfall tax.

Douglas Ross told BBC News he had urged Chancellor Jeremy Hunt not to extend the tax, believing that it would harm North Sea oil and gas jobs.

The MP for Moray said he supported many other positive measures announced in the budget but not this one.

The 35% surcharge on oil and gas firm profits, due to high energy prices, has been extended by 12 months until 2029.
