STV News journalists have postponed strike action in an ongoing pay dispute
News programming was taken off air last month during a walkout after the company rejected their demands for a 6% wage increase.
A further strike was set to take place on Tuesday, with newsrooms in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow closed.
That has now been shelved after talks between the broadcaster and the National Union of Journalists (NUJ).
An NUJ spokesperson said "extensive" negotiations would continue later in the week.
A walkout scheduled for 1 May - coinciding with the broadcaster's shareholder AGM - is still planned to go ahead.
STV previously said its wage offer, which has been accepted by other staff at the company, was "fair and affordable".
But workers represented by the NUJ said their pay was not keeping track with inflation.
They said about a third of STV newsroom staff are earning less than the starting salary of a teacher and that most earn less than a teacher with five years' experience.
An STV spokesperson confirmed the strike had been suspended and said talks were "ongoing".
