DJ Ronson added to Edinburgh's Hogmanay concert

DJ Ronson has produced albums for Amy Winehouse, Adele and Robbie Williams

DJ Mark Ronson and electro-pop band Friendly Fires have been added to the line-up for one of the world's most famous street parties.

Event chiefs said partygoers would be "dazzled" by the biggest-ever selection of music at Edinburgh's Hogmanay 2011.

Primal Scream has previously been announced as the headline act at the Concert in the Gardens, supported by Bombay Bicycle Club.

Ronson has produced albums for Amy Winehouse, Adele and Robbie Williams.

There will also be a Celtic world stage for the first time, where Scottish bands Peatbog Faeries and Capercaillie will play.

Up to 80,000 revellers from around the world are expected to head to the Scottish capital to enjoy the Street Party, The Keilidh and Concert in the Gardens.

There will be music across seven stages and two fireworks displays from either end of Princes Street to welcome in the new year.

Pete Irvine, director of Edinburgh's Hogmanay, said: "The eyes of the world will be on Edinburgh, the 'Home of Hogmanay', as we launch 2012 - the year of the London Olympics - and we are delighted to have such a fantastic line-up for the Street Party - the best we've had in 19 years."

Primal Scream will perform their album Screamadelica and a set of their greatest hits.

Tickets for the Enclosure in the gardens have sold out and organisers said remaining tickets for the gardens were selling fast.

Ronson will be on the East End DJ stage, Friendly Fires will play on the West End stage and Cuban Brothers will be at the Mound.

Other acts playing include Kassidy, X-Factor's Jade Richards and Radio 1 DJs Jaymo and Andy George.

Steve Cardownie, Edinburgh City Council's festivals and events champion, said: "Edinburgh's Hogmanay Street Party is the place to be to bring in the New Year.

"This year partygoers will be dazzled by a truly sensational line-up of bands and artists on more stages than ever before, and the new Celtic world stage is bound to be a huge hit with Scots and overseas visitors alike."

The Street Party is part of Edinburgh's Hogmanay Festival programme, which runs for three days from Friday 30 December 2011 until Sunday 1 January 2012.

The programme of events includes a torchlight procession and the Loony Dook, in which revellers brave the cold waters of the Forth on New Year's Day.

Tickets and registrations for all the Hogmanay events are now available and organisers will release the full programme details on 10 November.

This year Edinburgh's Hogmanay has teamed up with Citylink Buses for the first time to offer late-night buses to destinations outside Edinburgh after the Hogmanay celebrations.

Revellers will be able to travel home to a range of destinations in Glasgow, Fife, including Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy and St Andrews, Dundee and Perth and Kinross. Tickets costs will be about £30.
