Edinburgh tram works suspended for Christmas

The trams will run along Princes Street to St Andrew Square
Tram works are being suspended in the heart of Edinburgh until the start of next year to allow for Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The move is designed to encourage people back into the city centre during the festive period.
Machines have been moved and barrier fencing taken down to allow greater access to Princes Street.
The road will reopen to pedestrians and emergency vehicles with other traffic diverted along George Street.
Christmas celebrations begin on Thursday evening with Light Night, including street theatre, live music, a 14m-high Snow Queen and a fireworks display.
The tram works, to fix crumbling tarmac around the lines, are due to resume on 9 January.
The full project is due for completion by summer 2014, at a cost of £776m.
