A record-breaking number of passengers passed through Edinburgh Airport airport last month, new figures show.

The airport experienced its busiest June with more than 950,000 travellers, up 8.4% on the same month last year.

Domestic passenger numbers rose to 424,711, up 7.8%, while international passenger numbers increased to 531,851, up 8.8%.

The airport also recorded its busiest-ever May, handling more than 906,000 passengers.

About 40 airlines fly from the airport to 130 destinations.

Chief executive Gordon Dewar said: "It's great to see we're continuing our record-breaking summer season with both May and June seeing the highest number of passengers ever.

"It's hugely encouraging to see another positive increase to our domestic and international traffic figures which are continuing to rise as a result of good performances from our domestic airlines and the introduction of new international routes."
