Pentland Hill Nursing Home was given a series of deadlines for improvements

A report has been sent to the procurator fiscal concerning allegations over the Pentland Hill nursing home in Edinburgh.

The move follows an investigation by Police Scotland and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Concerns had been raised about the deaths of four residents at the home.

In addition to the police and HSE inquiries, the Care Inspectorate has been looking at complaints and has issued a formal improvement notice.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "Following a joint initial investigation by Police Scotland and the Health and Safety Executive into four deaths at the Pentland Care Home, a report has now been sent to the procurator fiscal for consideration.

"Additional inquiries being undertaken by the Care Inspectorate are ongoing."
