Rail bridge work leaves man sleep deprived

A West Calder resident has complained to Network Rail that work it is carrying out over his back garden wall is devastating his life.

David McInnes, who posted this video onto social media, told the BBC it was "impossible to sleep with this constant noise and vibration throughout my house".

The work to increase the height of the West Calder rail bridge is part of a multi-billion improvement to Scotland's rail network system.

A Network Rail spokesman said it tried to minimise disruption but added that "short-term night-time working is unavoidable when removing a structure such as a bridge over the railway".
