Murder bid charge over incident at Edinburgh Haymarket station

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a man was seriously injured at an Edinburgh train station.

Marc McKinnlay, 34, from Cowdenbeath, was also charged with assault to severe injury, permanent disfigurement and danger of life at the city's Sheriff Court. He made no plea and was bailed.

The incident happened at 21:55 on Thursday at Haymarket station.

A 58-year-old man remains in a critical condition in hospital.

A 32-year-old man was also allegedly assaulted on platform two in the station. He is being treated for facial injuries.
