Two men have been charged over the alleged assault of a man who heckled Prince Andrew as he walked behind the Queen's coffin.

Footage showed a 22-year-old man shouting at the Duke of York on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh on 12 September.

He has since been charged with breach of the peace.

Two men, both 34, have now been charged after allegedly dragging the heckler to the ground.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Two men, both aged 34, have been arrested and charged in connection with assault, following an incident on the Royal Mile around 2.50pm on Monday, 12 September 2022.

"A report will be sent for the consideration of the procurator fiscal."

Prince Andrew walked alongside his brothers King Charles and Prince Edward and his sister Princess Anne during the procession.

Thousands of people lined the streets as it made its way along the Royal Mile from the Palace of Holyroodhouse to St Giles' Cathedral.

About 33,000 people filed through St Giles' Cathedral in the following 24 hours to pay their respects while Her Majesty lay at rest.

Princess Anne accompanied the coffin as it was then flown south ahead of the Queen's state funeral at Westminster Abbey on 19 September.
