The annual Samhuinn Fire Festival has welcomed in the Celtic new year with a spectacular display in Edinburgh's Holyrood Park.

Monday night's event featured fire, drumming, acrobatics and a range of characters in costume.

Organisers say the modern re-imagining of an ancient Celtic festival marks the transition from summer to winter.
