Woman dies after hit-and-run on A1 near Dunbar

A 45-year-old woman has died following a hit-and-run on the A1 in East Lothian.
The incident happened between the Thistly Cross and Spott roundabouts in Dunbar at about 02:55 BST on Monday.
The woman was found seriously injured but died at the scene.
Police said the vehicle that hit her did not stop and the driver had not yet been in touch with police. Ch Insp Ben Leathes urged anyone who was in the area at the time to contact the force, external.
"Our investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing and the victim's family is being supported by our officers," he said.
"I wish to thank the members of the public who have already contacted us and provided us with dashcam footage, but I ask anyone who has not yet come forward to get in touch with police as soon as possible."
The road was closed in both directions and reopened at 15:50.
