A man and woman have appeared in court charged with attempted murder following a fire at a four-storey block of flats in Fife.

Firefighters were sent to the building on Francis Street in Lochgelly at about 19:00 on Monday.

Chloe Arnott, 30, and Jamie Morrison, 33, both of Glenrothes, were arrested and appeared before Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

They made no plea and were remanded in custody.

It is expected they will appear again within eight days.

Eyewitness footage on Monday showed flames in the window of an upper flat, which spread and engulfed the roof of the building.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said there were no reports of any casualties.
