Police are hunting for the driver of a red car following a shooting outside an Edinburgh pub on Hogmanay.

A 38-year-old man, named locally as Marc Webley, was killed in the attack at the Anchor Inn just before midnight. A 39-year-old man was also hurt.

Officers believe a red Hyundai Tucson pulled over in West Granton Road. The driver got out and fired on the men before driving off towards Leith.

At least one other person was in the car at the time.

Police Scotland are treating the incident as murder and said it was an "isolated, targeted attack".

Det Supt Graham Grant, who is leading the investigation, said officers were working to identify those responsible.

He said: "We are appealing for any information or footage of the suspect vehicle and its movements before and after the incident happened.

"If you saw this vehicle in the surrounding area late on Sunday evening, we would like to hear from you."
