Police closed the road for more than two hours

A woman is critically ill after being hit by a truck in Edinburgh.

The 58-year-old was seriously injured at the junction of South Groathill Avenue and Queensferry Road at about 07:10 on Wednesday.

She was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment, where her condition is described as "critical but stable".

Police closed the road for over two hours in the aftermath of the collision and are appealing for information, external.

A red and white DAF truck was involved in the collision.

Sgt Louise Birrell said officers wanted to hear from the owners of a blue BMW X2, which was stationary on the road at the time.

She added investigators were also hoping to hear from anyone with dashcam footage that may have captured the incident.
