A recruitment drive has been launched to fill 1,044 jobs for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Vacancies exist across a number of sectors and range from technical sporting roles to corporate posts and event management.

The jobs search is being carried out by Glasgow-based recruitment agency Search Consultancy, which has been confirmed as an official sponsor of the games.

Posts will be advertised locally and on the Glasgow 2014 website.

'Economic boost'

Glasgow 2014 chief executive David Grevemberg said: "We have 1,044 days until the opening ceremony and I am delighted to announce that Search has officially become part of our Glasgow 2014 family to recruit 1,044 jobs for the organising committee.

"It goes without saying that Search will help us deliver a huge economic boost to Glasgow and Scotland in recruiting these 1,044 jobs, and leave a lasting and positive legacy for the Scottish workforce."

Search managing director Simone Lockhart added: "Each and every one of the 1,044 roles we're recruiting for will provide someone with a unique opportunity to be part of an exciting once-in-a-lifetime event.

"As a company established in Glasgow, we're proud to be associated with something of this scale which will undoubtedly make history for the city and its people."
