The Irish carrier Ryanair is to add four new routes from Glasgow Prestwick Airport from summer 2012.

The destinations are to Barcelona (Spain), Bydgoszcz (Poland), Corfu (Greece) and Chania (Crete, Greece).

These will take the number of Ryanair routes from the South Ayrshire airport to 25.

Ryanair's head of sales and marketing, Lesley Kane, said: "Ryanair's 1.3 million passengers will sustain 1,300 jobs locally."

Glasgow Prestwick's chief commercial officer, Graeme Sweenie, added: "This is great news for the airport and our summer flight season."
