North Lanarkshire Council to build 1,000 new homes by 2020

Scotland's largest social landlord has committed to building 1,000 new houses by 2020 at a cost of about £150m.
North Lanarkshire Council had already planned to add 500 new council homes to its existing stock of 36,500.
The authority said it would increase its investment programme to double that figure by the end of the decade.
The council said it would deliver this while "upholding our pledge to cap rent increases at 1.5% for the second year in succession".
