Glasgow hosts World Pipe Band Championship

A week-long festival is under way in Glasgow as the city prepares to host the World Pipe Band Championship.
The Piping Live festival will run until Sunday, with the championship, known as The Worlds, taking place at Glasgow Green on Saturday.
About 30,000 visitors and 8,000 pipers, drummers and performers from around the world are expected in the city.
The Worlds have been held in Glasgow for almost 70 years, while Piping Live is entering its ninth year.
The 2011 Worlds was won by the Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band from Belfast.
Street performance
It will be defending its title against bands from countries including Scotland, Canada, Denmark and the USA.
Piping Live features musicians from 10 European countries, including Bulgaria, Estonia, Italy and Sweden, with almost 150 free and ticketed events.
The programme has workshops, masterclasses, ceilidhs, concerts and street performance.
The city's George Square will be at the centre of the event, with a line-up of acts taking to the stage.
