Glasgow School of Art has appointed a new director from a "strong field of national and international candidates".
Prof Tom Inns, currently dean at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee, will take up the post in the autumn.
He will replace Professor Seona Reid who leaves this summer after 14 years in the job.
Prof Inns said he was looking forward to a "highly challenging, but enormously rewarding" role.
Philip Rodney, chairman of the art school's board of governors and selection panel, said: "The appointment of Tom as the GSA's next director has been an extensive and thorough process which attracted a very strong field of national and international candidates.
"Tom's calibre and clarity of ambition for the future means he is ideally placed to lead the GSA in the next and important stage of its development and successfully build on the school's achievements in recent years."
