Police and Uefa probe Ajax fans disorder at Celtic game

Police are reviewing CCTV footage over reports of disorder by Ajax fans during the game with Celtic

Police and Uefa are investigating scenes of disorder by Ajax fans during their team's Champions League match against Celtic on Tuesday.

Trouble flared in the away supporters section after Celtic took a one goal lead in the match which they won 2-1.

Police Scotland said they were reviewing CCTV images and would liaise with their Dutch counterparts.

Meanwhile, Uefa confirmed that it had opened disciplinary proceedings against Ajax over the scenes of disorder.

There were reports that some Ajax fans ripped out seats and threw them after Celtic's first goal.

It is also alleged that some fans confronted stewards and police.

'Full investigation'

Police Scotland said: "A full investigation is being carried out into the behaviour of a number of Dutch supporters.

"Our officers are reviewing CCTV images. Any information gleaned will be shared with our Dutch counterparts to identify those involved."

Police Scotland confirmed no Dutch fans were arrested during the game.

Uefa - European football's governing body - said it had decided to take action against Ajax.

A spokesman said: "Disciplinary proceedings have been opened against AFC Ajax for crowd disturbances and throwing of objects at last night's Uefa Champions League match in Glasgow against Celtic FC.

"The case will be dealt with by the Uefa control and disciplinary body on 21 November."
