Mr Trump plans to spend £100m developing the Ayrshire golf resort

The Turnberry golf resort in Ayrshire is to be renamed Trump Turnberry after its acquisition by Donald Trump.

The US property tycoon announced that he is to spend £100m developing the resort after finalising the deal to buy it from from Dubai-based Leisurecorp.

Mr Trump will announce his plans during a visit to the resort on 2 July.

Trump Turnberry will be managed by The Trump Organization. The hotel will be part of a franchise agreement with Starwood Hotels and Resorts.

Mr Trump owns another Scottish course at Menie, on the Aberdeenshire coast.
