Three men are to stand trial charged with the murder of a 22-year-old man who died in North Ayrshire.

Stuart McCulloch, 17, Fergal Morgan, 22, and Allan Carey, 18, are accused of killing Samuel Johnston at a property at Parkend Gardens in Saltcoats.

It is alleged they punched Mr Johnston on the head and body and struck him on the chest with a knife or similar instrument on 26 October last year.

All three men deny murder and a trial is scheduled to begin in October.

Mr McCulloch, of Saltcoats, Mr Morgan, of Drumchapel, Glasgow and Mr Carey, of Ardrossan, North Ayrshire, lodged not guilty pleas at the High Court in Glasgow.
