A bomb disposal team were called in after a suspect package was found at a property in Glasgow.

Dalmarnock Road was temporarily closed in both directions and Baltic Street was closed at Garval Street.

A spokesman said: "Following an ongoing police inquiry, a suspicious item was discovered at an address on Summerfield Street, off Dalmarnock Road, Glasgow around 4.30am on Friday.

"The item required EOD (explosive ordnance disposal) assessment who attended and safely removed the item from the property. There is no threat to the wider public.

"As a precaution, nearby residents were evacuated from their properties and have since been allowed to return to their homes.

"All roads surrounding the area have been reopened and there are no injuries. Inquiries are ongoing into the incident."
