Man in court over deaths of man and woman in Coatbridge

John Paul Duffy and Emma Baillie were found dead in Coatbridge

A 46-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murders of a man and a woman in North Lanarkshire.

Peter Duffy is accused of killing John Paul Duffy, 51 and Emma Baillie, 26, who were found dead at separate addresses in Coatbridge.

Officers found the body of John Duffy at High Coats Flats last Sunday and two days later found Ms Baillie's body in Calder Street, about a mile away.

Peter Duffy made no plea when he appeared at Airdrie Sheriff Court.

He faces two charges of murder was remanded in custody.
