A man has been injured by a crane truck as workers were taking down rigging at Glasgow's Riverside Festival.

The crane operator was trapped by a mechanism on a vehicle being used to dismantle festival structures outside the Riverside Museum.

He was rescued by firefighters who were called to the site on Pointhouse Place, Partick, at 08:54.

Police confirmed that the injured man had been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

The three-day electronic music festival ended on Saturday night.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said it had sent sent three appliances to the scene. There were also two incident response vehicles, three ambulances and two police vehicles attending the incident.

A spokesperson said: "One male casualty trapped by a vehicle was released and handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

"Firefighters made the area safe before leaving the location."

The Riverside Museum, external, the city's transport and technology museum next to the River Clyde, said it had closed the venue for the day "due to unforeseen circumstances".

Riverside Festival, external is an annual outdoor electronic music event established in 2013.

A statement from the organisers said: "Riverside Festival are saddened to hear of a workplace accident at the site perimeter.

"Only the plant operator was involved. Our thoughts are with the operative and his family and workforce at this time.

"This is now in the hands of official agencies."
