Crews were still tackling a "complex" fire at a recycling centre in the east end of Glasgow more than a day after the alarm was raised.

About 30 firefighters were sent to the blaze at the NWH waste collection site on Nuneaton Street at about 02:30 on Wednesday.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed two crews were still tackling the blaze on Thursday afternoon.

Police said there have been no injuries.

Parts of Nuneaton Street, Dalmarnock Road, London Road and the Clyde Gateway were shut.

Glasgow City Council urged drivers to avoid the area, with reports of heavy smoke.

A police spokesperson said: "Following a fire at a recycling centre in Nuneaton Street in the east end of Glasgow, a number of roads remain closed with diversions in place.

"No-one has been injured and we continue to support the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service as they manage this complex fire."
