Man dies after being hit by Land Rover on A737 near Beith

A man has died after being hit by a Land Rover in North Ayrshire.

The crash involving the pedestrian and the Discovery Sport happened on the A737 south of Beith at about 22:45 on Wednesday.

Emergency services were called and the 46-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for about six hours for inquiries to be carried out. Sgt Chris McColm urged witnesses to contact police.

He added: "I would also ask anyone with any dashcam or CCTV footage that could help with our investigation to get in touch."
