Cyclist seriously injured in A82 crash

A cyclist has been seriously injured after a crash on the A82 road near Balloch in West Dunbartonshire.

The accident, which also involved a black Mitsubishi Outlander car, occurred south of the Stoneymollan roundabout on the Renton bypass.

Police Scotland have appealed for information regarding the incident.

The 65-year-old male cyclist was taken to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment. The 75-year-old Mitsubishi driver was not hurt.

Sgt Archie McGuire of Police Scotland's road policing unit said: "Our investigation into this incident is ongoing, and I would urge anyone who witnessed it or has any other information to come forward, external.

"We would be keen to speak to anyone with dashcam footage, in particular anyone who was travelling southbound between the Stoneymollan and Lomondgate roundabouts around the time of the collision."

The road was closed southbound for much of Thursday while the scene was investigated but it reopened on Thursday evening.
